An addiction towards alcoholism tore the family of a former boxer, Paddy Conlon (Nick Nolte) apart. He ropes in his youngest son, Tom Conlon (Tom Hardy) to train him for a mixed martial arts tournament which coincidently his older brother Brendan Conlon (Joel Edgerton) is also entering. This put both brothers onto a collision course as the competition date draws nearer.
