Eight-year-old Nathan inexplicably regains consciousness despite having been pronounced dead after an attempt to save a little girl. Fast forward 20 years later and Nathan (Romain Duris) is now a brilliant lawyer in New York. Deeply affected by the painful circumstances of his divorce, he's taken refuge in his work, far from his ex-wife Claire (Evangeline Lilly) and their daughter. Mysterious Dr. Kay (John Malkovich) appears and claims he can tell the exact time when someone will die. With this disclosure, he finally understands why he came back to life after all those years.
