Crayon

Crayon (English / Malay / Mandarin / Tamil)


Adam and Rafaat are roommates studying in a prestigious university in Singapore. Adam is an overachieving Malaysian ASEAN scholar while Rafaat is a Singaporean IT genius. Both are required to volunteer for a social program during their term holiday and they decide to be workers for a Malaysian orphanage. Off they go to the east coast of Malaysia where they meet Mak Engku (Adibah Noor), the caring and lovely matron of the orphanage. They meet Afiq, one of the most rambunctious and loveable orphans whose sense of adventure and zest for life which gives Adam and Rafaat a new appreciation for living. While there, they also meet other orphans and see that despite hardships and difficulties, they realise the true meaning of unconditional love and find purpose in helping them improve their lives. Their sense of security is threatened by unscrupulous land developers who will stop at nothing to obtain the orphanage land for their own nefarious purposes.

In the Kingdom of Zhao, all the men have left for war and Lady Li (Fan Bingbing), wife of the absent lord, says victory will soon bring their men back home. When two enemy deserters invade the kingdom, they pretend to be Zhao soldiers and improvise a tale for Lady Li describing Zhao's victory. Word of the supposed victory spreads rapidly throughout the town, causing misplaced optimism among the women until the truth is revealed and despair and horror emerge. Set during the Warring States period, the film is divided into five sections, which corresponds to the Chinese system of elements: metal (aka gold), wood, water, fire and earth.

Monga


Starring the top two male idols in Taiwan, Ethan Ruan (Monk) and Mark Chao (Mosquito), "Monga" tells about the story of five boys from the historical district of Monga in Taipei, who join a gang because they were tired of being bullied around. As the young men enjoy their newfound status as gangsters in Monga, they have no idea that other gangs have also set their eyes on this prosperous area. Under the guidance of a veteran gangster, the youngsters are taught the heritage created by the founders of the borough of Monga. He has no idea, however, of a storm brewing that will soon break every hint of order in town, and remove the last remaining grandeur of the old town Monga.

Happy Go Lucky


"Happy Go Lucky" seeks to tackle the issue of gambling in a light-hearted yet touching manner. Hardcore gambler, Hock Lee Poh (Richard Low) is an ardent believer of Feng Shui, but is always down on his luck. His eldest daughter Donna (Patricia Mok), though petty and calculative, spends all her time and money on lavish nightlife and hunky social escorts - till she loses everything in the end. Fu Xin (Fann Wong), Poh's illegitimate second daughter is born at an extremely inauspicious hour and thus labeled as the "jinx" of the family. However, Fu Xin actually is a surreptitious 'Lucky Star' who always manages to turn unfavourable conditions into favourable ones. Fu Xin sacrifices a lot for the family. And in a twist of fate and luck, she unexpectedly helps Poh to win a hefty sum of money. Meanwhile, Poh and Donna find themselves stranded along the streets of Cambodia in a failed attempt to recoup their losses at the gambling tables.

Crossing Hennessey

Hennessy Road in Wanchai is the real Hong Kong, like Delancy in the Lower East Side is the real New York. Oilin (Tang Wei) and Loy (Jacky Cheung) live and work on Hennessy Road. She takes care of her uncles stockpile of bathtubs, and he peddles his mom's dehumidifiers. Their elders, eager to marry them off, foist them on a date. But alas, Loy is holding the torch for an old flame, and Oi-lin is waiting for her beau to get out of jail. With a delightful case and a delicious script, director Ivy Ho brings home a one-of-a-kind romantic comedy loaded with family values.

Kidnapper

Lim (Christopher Lee), a struggling and obnoxious 40-year-old taxi driver, is a complete failure. His wife left him years ago. And his only son - Wei Siang (Jerald Tan) - is frequently neglected. Mistaken for a rich man's son, Wei Siang is kidnapped at an arcade one day and held for an enormous ransom. Thus begins one father's relentless quest to get his son back. In the process, he gives up everything in his life to raise the ransom, only to discover that the nefarious kidnapper (Jack Lim) wants even more money. Unable to raise the second ransom, Lim descends into madness as grief and self-doubt overwhelms him. His own morals are threatened when he flirts with the dark side in a desperate attempt to get his son back.
